abf2013 #1 - a day of firsts
"Bagai rusa masuk kampung" is the perfect proverb to describe me today. Taken in its literal translation, it means a deer who enters a village, signifying someone stepping into a completely new situation and it's at lost at what to, just like the deer.
Today was a day of many firsts for me. My first time waking up at 6am after months of sleeping at 6am, my first time on plane, my first time flying alone, my first time taking a national flight, my first time having to transfer flights and also my first time getting delayed for more than one hour while waiting for my flight. I lost a lot of first times today.

But nevertheless, it was an eye opening experience. Luckily for me, I had someone to accompany me accompany me all the way from Singapore to Jakarta and then to Solo, including all the flight delay experience and stuff or else I would have no idea how I would have survived the entire trip on my own. Most probably end up crying in Jakarta, perhaps. And in the process too I made a new friend! Thanks a lot Chan, for being my travel buddy in an otherwise horrible experience.
Anyway, after more than 18 hours of going non-stop, I am now finally in Solo, Indonesia, enjoying the relative comfort of my room and am now officially a part of the ASEAN Blogger Festival 2013. To be perfectly honest though, I still do not have the slightest clue on how was I chosen for the entire event itself. While chatting with a few of the other international bloggers, I realized that I am in fact standing amongst giants of the field, with most of them being very successful bloggers or fighting very noble causes. When it comes to me however, all I manage to spurt out is that I'm just a "blogger". One with tons of grammatical errors and just enjoys calling himself handsome.
I guess I shall not think about it first though, since it's not even the first day of the event yet and I'm half dead from all the travelling and delays. Guess I'll go grab a good nights sleep and hopefully tomorrow will be a more awesomer day!
